A shadow box piece for a series of work inspired by the Victorian era. The work is inspired by scientific and cultural attitudes regarding wildlife and the natural world at that time. It’s work about hope and spirituality.

Hidden amongst the elements are artefacts from the past, skeletal wings and flowers, animal ribs, dragonfly and bees wings, coral and feathers.

Lisa sprays acrylic paint through lace to capture the victorian’s fascination with romance and beauty. Capturing the intricate detail and texture - so much of lace design is inspired by nature and flowers. The spray paint creates a painterly effect with faded grandeur and a modern aesthetic. Lisa sourced most of the lace from charity shops.
