Chrysalis
In 2024, I began exploring the chrysalis and the process of metamorphosis. The work became a way of navigating a difficult period in my life, I became drawn to the chrysalis as both object and symbol. It's structure protects and contains life during a period of intense, unseen change. It represents a pause between states — a space of transition. Each piece begins with deciding what will be placed inside the cavity. This might be a letter or an object with personal meaning, but it must carry spiritual weight and connect the internal experience to the external world.
The form then develops around what it holds, acting as both container and protection.
I wish I could keep you safe.
