Rise no.1

The Rise series was created for a site specific solo exhibition for Searcys of London. Lisa was asked to create three wall art pieces for their restaurant at the top of the Gherkin, one of the most iconic and recognisable landmarks of London’s skyline. The circular motif mirroring the curved interior walls and the radial geometry of Norman Foster’s incredible building.

It is a relief artwork built onto a painted back board. Depth is created by layers of paper and card, creating sculptural shaping, texture and movement. There are over 10,000 pieces of paper, all cut free hand. The series takes inspiration from herons: the movement, energy and life force of the birds. Capturing their beautiful details and formidable power. It took 3 months to make the series.
