I was so excited on Sunday to be featured in The Times newspaper- so proud!
I was honoured when Milan based interior design company Studio Pepe contacted me about putting my blue tit in an article for Elle Decor Italia. I sent the bird flying solo all the way to Milan and back for the shoot, so it was incredible to see what they'd done with her. The feature is a style forecast for 2018, I'm so proud to be included.
Fundraising auction for Changes Bristol
Changes Bristol has been running mental health peer support meetings in the City of Bristol for over 12 years. Their meetings are safe places for people to come and talk about their feelings and to take steps toward improving their lives.
I was asked if I could create a chameleon to represent how it feels to struggle with mental health, the design will be used to raise money for the charity. There will be a blind auction to win a signed print at an event in Bristol on the 8th July. For more details about the event click here.
How to make a blue tit...
I start by sculpting the paper into the basic form of the blue tit using photographic images for reference. My client had a very clear brief that the bird had to be facing to the right and also fit nicely within the square format they use for the magazine cover.
Once the main body was created I then spent some time cutting out the individual elements by hand and feathering them with the scalpel. I felt it was important that the feathers were all different so that it retained a really handmade natural feel.
The client then needed to approve the final model before I set it up for shooting.
Waitrose Weekend Magazine asked me to create an illustration of their new 'Frushi' product, fruit sushi! Instead of fish the rolls are filled with pineapple, melon and other fruit; surrounded by coconut. Delicious!Read More
